About

Katy Matich Ro is a Philadelphia bookmaker, printmaker, and illustrator who is equally passionate about visual artwork and historical conservation. Katy received her BFA degree in drawing and painting from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2008; and later completed her MFA degree at The University of the Arts in 2010 emphasizing in Book Arts and Printmaking. Upon graduating, she spent an 8-week post-graduate internship with the American Philosophical Society (APS) of Philadelphia focused on a documentation and preservation project with the Oversize Rare Book archives.

Katy is a current faculty member and serves as the Director of Education at Hussian College School of Art in Philadelphia and actively exhibits work both nationally and internationally. Her artist books and prints can be found in various collections including the Salford Zine Library of Manchester of the United Kingdom, the University of Pennsylvania’s artist book archive, The Free Library of Pennsylvania, and The Morgan Library at Hussian College of Art in Philadelphia. When she is not developing her latest zombie zine, or motivating design students, you can find Katy meticulously laboring away restoring sickly “broken” books.
